Going to Downtown Sacramento

We love the rugged outdoors and the historic area of the country in which we live, and we think you’ll enjoy it to, which is why we spend so much time talking about all the great things to do near Gold Country Campground. Downtown Sacramento, California’s capitol, is only about 57 miles away and offers many great things to enjoy!

Exploring Downtown Sacramento

When you visit downtown Sacramento, you might be overwhelmed about the variety of fun to be had! You can visit the Crocker Art Museum, the first public art museum, that was established in 1885. This is great if you want to see a diverse amount of art and exhibits.

Another great museum to visit is the California Automobile Museum. They have more than 150 vehicles on display from the years of 1885 to 2011. It’s like a walk though the history of cars and the California auto culture. Another great thing to do is to take the Old Sacramento Underground Tour. This tour stops at hollow sidewalks, sloped alleyways, and underground spaces.

Downtown Eats

Speaking of underground, you’d do well to try out the Underground Tasting Room. They offer an educational wine tasting experience with the option to buy from local wineries. You can also enjoy the food truck experience by visiting the Sacramento Mobile Food area. It’s a great way to experience the local food and contribute to the American Dream. If a great view of the landmarks sounds great, visit the Rio City Café and don’t forget the Old Sacramento Riverfront!
